01.06.2010 2009 Annual Holiday of Lights Photos


The annual holiday of lights was held on Saturday, December 12, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The event included horse drawn carriages, trolley rides, carolers, Santa and much more as a part of this holiday tradition. Many of the downtown merchants were also open. Email: central@historiclandmarks.org Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, with funding from the Conover Foundation, has commissioned two National Register of Historic Places nominations for the Tilford and Toner Districts in Edinburgh, Indiana. The National Register of Historic Places is a list of historically significant structures that includes residential houses, commercial buildings, and bridges. While listing on the National Register does not prevent a property owner from taking actions to renovate their buildings, rehabilitation tax credits are available to those who own buildings that contribute to a listed district. The Tilford District boundaries include: · South Walnut Street · Southern boundary is Hendricks Street · Northern boundary is East Thompson Street · Western boundary is South Main Street · Eastern boundary is the east side of South Walnut Street The Toner District boundaries include: · East Main Cross Street · Western boundary is just west of Kyle Street to the railroad tracks · Eastern boundary is White Oak Lane Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana in partnership with the Edinburgh Antique Club will host an informational session about both district nominations on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 6:30 in the Edinburgh Presbyterian Church located at 306 E. Main Cross, Edinburgh, Indiana. Rebecca Smith, Community Preservation Specialist will present information about the National Register of Historic Places. Consultant Connie Zeigler, of C Resources, will discuss her research for the two nominations, as well as the process that she is undertaking to list these two districts.
