Roy McGaha, 87, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his loving family at his side. He was born Aug. 29, 1929, in Christine, Kentucky, to Otis “Peck” McGaha and Lily (Burton) McGaha. He married Lula J. (Burton) McGaha on July 5, 1952, in Christine, Kentucky, having just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. He had worked for Cosco in Columbus for 43 years in manufacturing, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church in which his parents co-founded and where he had been a song leader and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed reading the Bible, gardening, mowing grass, sports especially basketball and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 65 years Lula J. (Burton) McGaha; children, Marcia Whited (Garnet) of Greenwood, Sheila Doyle and Vickie Sinclair (David) both of Franklin, Loretta Ridpath (Troy) of Edinburgh, and Richard McGaha (April) of Edinburgh; a daughter in-law, Jacqueline L. “Jackie” (Whited) McGaha of Franklin; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Randall Lee “Randy” McGaha on Jan. 2, 2016; brothers, Edward, Osbert, Eugene, Ondia, W.E., and Vernon McGaha and a sister, Eva Bryant. The Revs. Jimmy Polston and Danny Bailey will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church, 905 S. Main Street in Edinburgh. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Memorial contributions may be made to Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church, 905 S.
