Melba J. Toops M-F-101-2

Melba J. Toops, 64 of Edinburgh, passed away April 30, 2018 at Saint Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born September 9, 1953. She was the daughter of Winfrey “Wimpy” Burton and Mary Jane (Cowan) Rhodes. She married Lonnie Toops on October 6, 1989, and he survives. She is survived by her husband; sons, Rockie (Robin) Krebbs of Greenwood and Matthew Krebbs of Franklin; stepson, Bryan (Cecilia) Toops of Orlando, Florida, stepdaughter, Alisia (Andy) Fowler of Clayton, North Carolina; step-grandson, Tyler Fowler; brother, Larry Burton of Edinburgh, sisters, Sue (Steve) Cox of Mount Auburn, Cathy Jo (David) Beatty of Edinburgh and Nancy (Richard) Ferguson of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Stephen Ray Burton and Lewis Hardin, sister, Brenda Fox; and a step-grandson, Chase Toops. She was a 1971 graduate of Edinburgh High School. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Holton, and a member of the Beatles Fan Club. She retired from Cummins Engine Co. after 30 years working in the OCU. She was a loving wife, sister, and mother and loved her Yorkie, “Bitsy.” She was an avid Edinburgh basketball fan and also an IU basketball, Dodgers baseball, and Packers football fan. She enjoyed attending concerts. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11 a.m., by the Revs. Ty Choate and Guy Hardin at Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh. Calling will be on Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m., and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Friday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
