Robert Andrew Freese

 

Robert Andrew Freese was born August 10, 1926 in Johnson County, Indiana, the third of three sons of Otis and Ruth June Darr Freese (Go-Go). Robert’s  two older brothers were James Otis (JO) and Thomas Earl (Tom).  Robert passed away in Gilbert, Arizona on May 16, 2018. On November 25, 1948 he married Alexa Ann Miyat Freese. They were married by Alexa’s father Alexander L. Miyat in the Edinburgh Presbyterian Church. They lived on the farm in a house that Robert and Tom built next door to Go-Go. Robert began farming when he was very young, after his father died. He stayed on the farm to support his family and Go-Go. He was a successful farmer and had the most productive crops. He also raised pigs, cattle and on occasion had horses. Robert and Alexa have 5 children; four daughters: Catherine Ann, Esther Jo, Sarah Elizabeth and Barbara Jane, and one son, Robert Alexander. Eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The children loved growing up on the farm, climbing trees, wading in the creek, and being close to nature and Go-Go.

 

Alexa Ann Miyat Freese

 

Alexa Ann Miyat Freese was born November 3, 1924 in ​Watonwan County, Minnesota, the  second of four children of Alexander and Goldys Triplett Miyat. Alexa’s siblings were Priscilla, Nada and James (Jimmy). Alexa passed away in Gilbert, Arizona on August 12, 2018.  Alexa loved her family and was a dedicated wife and mother. She was also very accomplished and pursued her BS degree in Nursing and Master’s in Public Health Administration while working and raising her children. She spent many years working as a hospital and public health nurse and administrator. She held office in several Nurses’ Associations. Both Robert and Alexa were advocates for adults in need of behavioral health services in Arizona. They helped pass Arizona legislation to fund a much needed new State Hospital that included pay increases for staff. Alexa was a member of the State Hospital board and both belonged to a grassroots behavioral health organization.

 Both Robert and Alexa will be deeply missed by their family and friends. Such loving parents who had a wonderful life and family together. You will both be missed!
