Ward J. Allman, 82, of Edinburgh, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011. Mr. Allman retired from Amos Hill Associates Inc. in Edinburgh and was a member of Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle, Double Y Saddle Club and Johnson County Coon Hunter's Association. He enjoyed his family, working with horses and mules, hunting and fishing and attending auctions. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh, with the Rev. Mark Myers, the Rev. Gary Streeval and the Rev. Terry England officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Born in Columbus July 7, 1929, Mr. Allman was the son of Henry Allman and Bertha E. Cochran Allman. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Adair Allman; a son Steve (Cherissia) Allman of Edinburgh; daughters, Diane (Charles) Allman Shepherd of Columbus, Linda (Chuck) Allman Laney of Edinburgh and Vickie Allman Newland of Columbus; brothers, Herbert (Bonita) Allman of Columbus, Richard Allman of Edinburgh and Chet Allman of Edinburgh; sisters, Wilma Adair of Edinburgh, Donna (Joe) Henson of Franklin and Lola (Ron) Anderson of Columbus; grandchildren, Kelli (Keith) King, Matthew Miller, John (Candy) VanSweringen, Michelle (Jim) Coffey, Mickey Laney, Marty Laney, Travis Newland, Dustin Newland, Nicholas Allman, Sierra Baker, Christian Baker and Robert McCormick; great-grandchildren, Ashley Gerhart, Elza King, Zackary VanSweringen, Venessa VanSweringen, Logan Coffey, Lani Coffey, Austin Miller and Blake Miller; a great-great-grandson, Gage Gerhart; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Charlotte Denson, Helen Streeval and Mary Kay Allman.
