James Ted Butler

James Ted Butler, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, August 22, 2020 from his home in Trafalgar at age 78. By his side, was his loving wife, Emmalea.Ted was born on April 9, 1942 in Tompkinsville, Kentucky to his parents, the late John T. and Havana (Bowman) Butler.He was a 1960 graduate of Tompkinsville High School in Kentucky. Ted married the love of his life, Emmalea R. Gordon on August 15, 1964 in Beech Grove. Together they raised four children, Brian, Brett, Chad and Niki. Emmalea lovingly survives after 56 devoted years of marriage.Ted retired in 1993 from Eli Lilly in Indianapolis after 31 years of service as a printer. He was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Trafalgar and the Board of Director’s Treasurer of the Lord’s Locker. He was known as the “Snack man” at the Great Adventure Club at Indian Creek Intermediate School. Ted was involved with the Bantam baseball and football leagues and volunteered as a receptionist for Reformers Unanimous at the Lord’s Locker.Ted enjoyed hunting, was an avid genealogy researcher and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors by watching the birds, deer, trees and all of God’s creations. Most of all, he will be remembered for his love of family and his unyielding faith in God.Ted will be missed by his wife, Emmalea R. Butler of Trafalgar, children, Pastor Brian (Elaine) Butler of Martinsville, Brett (Tracy) Butler of Whiteland, Chad (Cathy) Butler of Indianapolis and Niki Overby-Butler of Indianapolis; grandchildren: Megan (Adam) Philpott of Franklin, Kye (Anna) Butler of Bloomington, Levi (Beth) Butler of Morgantown, Joel (Lauren) Butler of Whiteland, Blake Butler of Whiteland, Zach Rodrigues of Avon, Paige Butler of Whiteland and Delaney Bailey of Avon; great-grandchildren: Cayde, T.J. and Kash; and siblings: Jackie Ned (Connie) Butler of Jacksonville, FL, Nancy LaVell (David) Turner of Franklin and Isaac Ed Butler of Glasgow, KY.Ted was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Trixie Nell Lamott, Alice Odell Francis, Dixie Bell Carter, John Tom Butler, Joe Fred Butler, George Eagle Butler, and an infant brother William Med Butler.The Pastor Brian Butler will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Cornerstone Church of Trafalgar, 1000 W. 375 S. in Trafalgar. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. The funeral service will also be livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
