Audy Darrel Waldrop M-C-71-4

Audy Darrel Waldrop, 72, of Columbus, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022, at his home. He was born In El Centro, California to the late Audy E. Waldrop and Verna F. Rosenbaum Waldrop. He married his beloved bride, Georgianna Streeval Waldrop, on April 13, 2013, and she survives him. Darrel attended the Chapel of the Good Shepherd as well as the First United Methodist Church of Columbus with whom he went on a mission trip to Guatemala. He was a member of the Camon Masonic Lodge, #343, F&AM, and a lifelong member of the American Legion. He served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1972 and later went on to be a police officer for 25 years in Raytown, Missouri. Darrel had many hobbies including crossword puzzles, reading western novels, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs. He was a student for life, and always seeking knowledge. Along with his wife, Darrel is survived by his son, Andrew D. Waldrop, of Columbus, IN; a stepdaughter, Linda Jo (Michelle) Copple, of Columbus, IN; and a sister, Laura Rossiter, of Aumsville, OR. He is preceded in death by his parents, Audy and Verna Waldrop, and a son, Joseph W. Waldrop. Visitation is from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, and one hour prior to service on Thursday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Masonic Memorial Rites will be held at 7:30 pm on Wednesday. The funeral will be at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home at 1 pm on Thursday, June 16th with Rev. Howard Boles officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh with military honors provided by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. In addition to flowers, donations may be made to the Chapel of the Good Shepherd and the First United Methodist Church of Columbus.
