Junie Kelsey Bingham, 97 of Franklin, IN passed away Wednesday October 26, 2022, at Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community. He was born March 6, 1925, in Elkhorn, Kentucky to Melvin and Leona (Bell) Bingham. He married Wilma Louise (Breeding) Bingham on September 12, 1947, at Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin, IN; she preceded him in death on February 22, 2020.Junie was a United States Navy Veteran of WW II, Seaman 1st Class serving aboard the Amphibious LST 1015 have served in the Palau Islands, Angular Island, Philippines Leyte Island, Samar Island, Luzon Island, Morotai Island and kinawa. He had been a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service in Franklin, IN for thirty years. Junie was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin and attended New Life Baptist Church in Franklin and a member of Franklin American Legion Post #205.He enjoyed hiking, mushroom and ginseng hunting, an outdoorsman and bird watcher. Survivors include his children David Bingham (Willis Mo) of Chicago, IL, Daniel Bingham (Theresa) of Franklin, IN, Deborah Macy-Smith (Roger Smith) of Franklin, IN and Karen Devalal (Raji) of Franklin, IN, grandchildren Suzanne Henderson (Justin), Thomas Bingham (Stephanie), Steven Bingham (Nicole), Hannah Watkins (Alex), Heather Devalal, Samuel Devalal (Olivia) and Adam Smith (Stephanie), great grandchildren Austin Bingham, Aiden Bingham, McKenna Henderson, Brooklyn Bingham, Brooks Henderson, Abby Watkins, Lauren Bingham, Jordan Watkins, Colton Devalal and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers James Bingham, Lawrence Bingham, Gleason Bingham, sisters Ruth Bertram, Gertie Hommel, Pauline Smith, Pearl Bingham and Evelyn Ford. Reverend Andy Kinsey, Dr. Reverend Robert Coleman, Dr. Reverend Jenothy Irvine and Reverend David Mark Owens will conduct a service on Wednesday November 2, 2022, at 11AM at Grace United Methodist Church 1300 East Adams Street in Franklin, IN. Friends may call Tuesday November 1, 2022, from 4PM until 7PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and Wednesday November 2, 2022, from 10AM until service time at the church. Burial with military honors being conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard and Franklin American Legion Post 205 Honor Guard will follow the service at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, IN.
