Loletta Ruth Smith M-G-75-2

Ruth was born in Shelbyville, Indiana on August 6, 1938, the daughter of William and Ettamay Ruth Keith Alford. She married Robert E. Smith in Shelbyville July 12, 1959; he preceded her in death January 25, 2011.Ruth worked for 32 years as a teacher’s aide at North High School. She was a fifty-year member of Union Village Chapter Order of Eastern Star in Bargersville. She was a long-time active Bulldog fan. She loved talking on the telephone and listening to music, especially Jimmy Swaggart. She was a member of a Euchre club and enjoyed sewing. She is survived by her children, Dana (John) Hodson of Columbus, Randall (Linda) Smith of Roswell, GA, Rodney (Tracy) Smith of Indianapolis; sisters, Alicia (Larry) Platt of Sugar Hill, GA and Jane Alford of Edinburgh; grandchildren, Jessica (Brandon) Purdy, Ross (Elizabeth) Smith, Amanda (Kevin) Kimsey, Drew and Bailey Runnebohm, Bridget Elswick; 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband; grandson, Jeremiah Jarboe; 6 brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street with her son Randall Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to service time at the funeral home. Following the service, she will be buried next to her husband at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
