J.D. Burton, 79 of Edinburgh, Indiana passed away December 22, 2018 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Indiana. He was born July 28, 1939 in Adair County, Kentucky. He was the son of Jesse and Emma T. (Hadley) Burton. He is survived by his companion, Candice Dawn Crissen of Edinburgh, Indiana, daughters, Lisa Johnson of Edinburgh, Indiana and Paula Mae Hagan of Edinburgh, Indiana, sons, Thomas C. Burton of Edinburgh, Indiana and Austin Wayne Burton of Edinburgh, Indiana, step-son, Eddy Crissen of Johnson County, Missouri, twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and sister, Bernice (Avery) Rooks of Columbia, Kentucky. J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Golden, Odie, Huston, William, Jr., and Marshall Burton, sisters, Freda Burton, Glenna Compton, Margie Burton, Jewell Burton, Edith Streeval, Cathern Janes, and Linda Bell. He had formerly worked at Penn Central Railroad and retired from David R. Webb Company in 2004. He was a member of Sons of American Legion, Post 233 Edinburgh and had been a member of the former VFW in Edinburgh. J.D. was a very giving person and jokester. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, playing pool, golf, and fishing. A funeral will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. by Reverend Terry England on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh, Indiana. Calling will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
