Oscar “Wayne” Burton, 86, of Columbus, passed from this life at 12:45 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2019 at Otterbein Franklin Senior Life Community in Franklin. Wayne was born August 22, 1932 in Franklin, the of Gordon H. and Ruby Burton. He was a member of Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle Church in Seymour. Wayne was self-employed for over 20 years in the delivery service business. Along with his wife and son Jared, they traveled in all the states except Hawaii. Mr. Burton had built and operated 2 gas stations and a towing service. Wayne and his father developed Cherry Hills addition. He married Sandra L. Snyder December 2, 1993. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, children, Danny (Annette) Burton of Mitchell, Jeffrey Burton of Shelbyville and Jared Burton of Columbus; grandchildren, Robby (Rachel) Burton and Daniel Burton; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gene (Freda) Burton of Flat Rock and Dale (Barbara) Burton of Florida; and a sister, Darlene Myers of Spraytown. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Alva Burton. The funeral will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Saturday at Barkes-Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Revs. Larry Arrowood and Chauncey Romine officiating. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to time of service. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Memorial contributions may be made to Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle Church.
