James Edward Landis M-F-153-1

James Edward Landis, 92, of Edinburgh, went to be with his Heavenly Father at 11:45 p.m. on January 27, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born October 7, 1926 in Davis, W. Va, the son of James Riley and Beulah Landis. Jim was dedicated to the Edinburgh Apostolic Church. He was a proud WWII Army veteran who served in the South Pacific, where he received the WWII Victory Medal and the Purple Heart. Jim was a diesel mechanic and retired from R.O. Barber Trucking. He married Helen Burton in Dec. 1948 who preceded him in death in 1979. Jim and Helen were blessed with two daughters, Kathie and Jackie. He married Paula Pitney on July 5, 1980. They had a wonderful marriage of 39 years. They were blessed with a son, Jay Brian. The funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle with Pastor Mark Myers officiating. Calling will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle located at 701 S. Main St Edinburgh, IN with one hour prior to the service time on Saturday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to the Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle and Premier Hospice in Seymour, IN. Survivors include his wife, Paula; a son, Jay (Charity) Landis of Clifford; a daughter, Jackie Myers of Columbus; a sister, Dorothy Kennard of Davis, W. Va., 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Tinney, Ellen Rice and Shirley Cole; a daughter, Kathie Landis and granddaughters, Raechel and Farrah Myers.
