Richard W. Sweazey, Sr. 70 of Edinburgh, Indiana passed away October 9, 2019 at his residence. He was born May 19, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the son of Charles R. Sweazey and Beulah M. (Bridges) Sweazey. He is survived by his mother of Indianapolis, Indiana, sons, Richard W. (Amanda) Sweazey, Jr, of New Palestine, Indiana, Robert Tyler (Jacinda Musgrave) Sweazey of Whiteland, Indiana, and Michael Joseph (Catina Popplewell) Sweazey of Edinburgh, Indiana, daughter, Shannon Marie Sweazey of Greenwood, Indiana, five grandchildren, Sara Legerich-Jackson, Kyleigh Sweazey, Kameron Smith, Koltyn Smith, and Isabella Grace Sweazey, two great-grandchildren, brother, Donald Sweazey of Jamestown, Indiana, and sisters, Charlene (Kenny) Sweazey King of Indianapolis, Indiana and Sherry Carr-Priola of Naples, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father, daughter, Michelle Jackson Sweazey, and sisters, Judy Bennett and Roxey Scruggs. Richard served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a life member of the VFW Post 6978 in Whiteland, Indiana. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 233 in Edinburgh, Indiana and Franklin Masonic Lodge, #107 in Franklin, Indiana. He retired from the Indiana Masonic Home. He enjoyed God and his country, drag racing, fishing, hunting, auctions, casinos, and taking his dog for rides in his golf cart. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 by Chaplin David Carter at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh, Indiana. Calling will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
