Hobert Eugene "Gene" McGaha M-F-47-3

Hobert Eugene "Gene" McGaha, 77, of Kokomo, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the emergency room of St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo. He was born March 25, 1935, in Columbia, Ky., the son of Hobart and Sarah (Holt) McGaha. On Dec. 19, 1953, he married Janet Trammell, who preceded him in death on July 30, 1981. On Oct. 8, 1983, he married Barbara (Earlywine) McGaha, who survives. Gene was vice president of manufacturing for Syndicate Sales, retiring after 30 years of service. He enjoyed yard work, billiards, golf, watching Bill O'Reilly and his pet Chihuahua, Koko. Gene is survived by his wife, Barbara of Kokomo; four daughters, Lea McGaha of Lebanon, Lynn White of Russiaville and Terra McGaha and Tina McGaha (John) Jeffers, both of Fort Myers, Fla.; three stepchildren, Rob (Linda) Merchant, Steve (Mary Jayne) Merchant and Kim (Brian) Ploughe, all of Kokomo; a granddaughter, Lainie Zander (Adam) Norman of Yigo, Guam; eight stepgrandchildren, Ryan Merchant of Fort Wayne, Tiffany Fausett, Jessica Sutton, Spencer Merchant, Ashley Youker, Tannis Nightengale and Adam Merchant, all of Kokomo, and Alisha Lumber of Georgia; a great-grandson due in April; three great-stepgrandchildren, Alexia Youker, Alizabeth Youker and Isaac Bennett; a sister, Wilma May Bilby (Jerry) Kean of Edinburgh; and two nieces, Jennifer Kean (Steve) Fillmore of Indianapolis and Christie Kean. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and stepparents; and his first wife and mother of his children, Janet. In Kokomo, friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home and Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road. In Edinburgh, the funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., Edin­burgh. Funeral services will be officiated by the Rev. Lewis Burton. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
