Orval E. Waltz B-J-1-1
Orval E. Waltz, 95, of Edinburgh, passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was born Aug. 24, 1920, in Grandville, Pennsylvania, the son of L.O. “Jake” and Odessa Rachel (True) Waltz. He married Ella Mae (Hunt) Waltz on Dec. 20, 1947. She preceded him in death on Sept. 24, 1986. He is survived by a son, Edward (Teresa) Waltz of Trafalgar; a daughter, Linda (Bernie) Day of Trafalgar; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ralph Waltz, Raymond Waltz and Eugene Waltz; and sisters, Josephine Zanderdelli, Virginia Lakatash and Ruth Purcell. He was in the grocery business for 42 years, retiring in 1985 as owner of Waltz Grocery in Edinburgh. After retirement, he continued farming until his death. He was in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the European campaign. He was a member of the Edinburgh Lions Club, Edinburgh Masonic Lodge No. 100, Edinburgh American Legion Post 233 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 15015. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh, with the Rev. Mike Tetrick officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
