Virginia M. Henry, 88, of Franklin, formally of Edinburgh, passed away on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at Franklin United Methodist Community. She was born Nov. 8, 1927, in Bloomington. She was the daughter of Harry and Mary (Empson) Crites. She married Warren D. Henry on March 23, 1946. He preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 2007. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Montgomery of Dover, Tennessee, Judy (Don) Meyers of Edinburgh, Paula (Kenny) Centers of Flat Rock, Crystal Belser of Franklin, Nancy (Jerry) Belser of Edinburgh, Clifford (Rae Jean) Henry of Edinburgh and John (Tina) Henry of Edinburgh; a brother, David Crites of Delnorte, Colorado; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son William Henry; brothers, Paul Crites, Albert Crites, Samuel Crites, William Crites and Robert Crites, and sisters, Margaret Farris and Pauline Wolf. Virginia attended the Edinburgh United Methodist Church. She formerly had worked for Sap’s Bakery in Columbus, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and she and her husband Warren delivered the Daily Journal newspaper in the Edinburgh area for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, and working crossword puzzles. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. David Owens at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Franklin United Methodist Community, Wright Memorial Chapel, 1070 W. Jefferson St., Franklin. Calling will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or Franklin United Methodist Community, Health Center, Unit 2.
