John Robert Drybread M-E-139-7

John Robert Drybread, 65, of Edinburgh, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at his residence. He was born July 30, 1950, in Johnson County. He was the son of Robert J. and Mary P. (Abbott) Drybread. He married Kathy (Tobias) Drybread on Aug. 12, 1972, and she survives. He is survived by a son, Jason Drybread of Edinburgh; a daughter, SaraBeth Drybread, of Columbus; a brother, Rick Drybread (Kristie Huffman-Drybread) of Newport, Tennessee; a sister, Linda (Herman) Hardwick of Indianapolis; and a brother-in-law, William Snyder of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rebecca Snyder. He graduated from Edinburgh High School and Western Kentucky University. He was in the United States Navy. He was a member of Edinburgh United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 233 in Edinburgh. He retired from Cummins Engine Company as a plant manager in 2005 with more than 30 years service. He served on Edinburgh’s town board for more than 25 years and was currently Edinburgh’s town manager. John spent his time making people smile and laugh with his gift of observational humor. A master of living in the moment, he could make anyone he met feel like they had at least one friend. If you’ve spent any time with him at all, you should remember having facial cramps from laughing. He made the mundane routines of life fun. John loved his family, co-workers and town well. A funeral service will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 3 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Memorial contributions may be made to the Edinburgh Cheer Fund, 107 S.
