Robert Lewis “Bobby” Simpson, 77, of Edinburgh, Indiana, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was born February 25, 1939, in Columbia, Kentucky, the son of Coy L. and Edith (Burton) Simpson. He married Judy Burton June 29, 1957, in Edinburgh. He is survived by his wife, and children, Jeff (Rhonda) Simpson of Edinburgh, Pam (Jim) Burton of Edinburgh, Phyllis (Sam) Wiser of Franklin, Indiana, and Greg (Jhaunna) Simpson of Edinburgh. He is also survived by his two brothers, Osbert Simpson of Edinburgh and Luther Simpson of Edinburgh; two sisters, Phyllis Allison of Edinburgh and May Grant of Glasgow, Kentucky; grandchildren, Andie Simpson, Chris (Sheila) Simpson, Josh (Heather) Burton, Sam (Rahchelle) Burton, Robert T. (Wildari) Wiser, Lewis (Cherie) Wiser, Cherl Burton, Gregory Simpson, Steven Simpson, Milton Simpson, Jesse (Murphy) Simpson and Robert “Bobby” Simpson; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was loved by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clifton Simpson; two granddaughters, Tamela Wiser and Grason Simpson; a grandson, Joshua David (Simpson) Lentz; and a great-grandson, Jasper Simpson. He attended the Bloomington School in Adair County, Kentucky. He was the oldest member of Double Y Saddle Club. He owned and operated Simpson’s Body Shop for 47 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, gardening, history, working with dogs and horses, story telling, westerns and spending quality time with family. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016, by the Reverend Lewis Burton at Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 2 until 9 p.m. Tuesday at the church and from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Arrangements were made by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Edinburgh Park and Recreation to be used for purchasing pool passes for Edinburgh children who are in need. We do this in honor of our husband, father and grandfather because he loved children.
