Ronnie Elmore, 69, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. He was a resident of Edinburgh. He was born June 20, 1940, in Franklin to the late George Walden Elmore and Alta Mae (Graves) Cheek. He married Dorothy (Houchin) Elmore on March 28, 1960. She survives. Other survivors include six children, Tony (Kay) Elmore, Troy (Lisa) Elmore and Ronald "Andy" Elmore, all of Franklin, James Elmore of Greenwood and Marilyn (Randy) Hodson and Carolyn (Ronnie) Hodson, both of Amity; four sisters, Phyllis Meece Able of Columbus, Anita Lynn Ryckman of Boggstown, and Ella Mae Sumpter and Pearl Powell, both of Indianapolis; 30 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, John Marlin Cheek; a brother, Steven Joel Cheek; a granddaughter, Robin Lynn Elmore; a great-grandson, James Dewayne Botts; and a great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Lynn Blake. He was self-employed for more than 35 years doing body repair and painting. His life and passion were his work. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved going to stockcar races, camping and traveling. The Rev. Ray Bryant will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday at Who So Ever Will Community Church, 623 S. Eisenhower Drive, Edinburgh. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh is handling arrangements.
