Jackie L. “Jack” Hancock, 61, of Edinburgh, died at 3:50 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010, at Homeview Center in Franklin. Mr. Hancock retired in 1999 after working 31 years at Reliance Electric in Columbus. A 1967 graduate of Edinburgh High School, he also served 28 years with the Army Reserves and held the rank of sergeant first class. He enjoyed his family, children and grandchildren, fishing, hunting and classic Chevrolets. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Whosoever Will Community Church, 623 S. Eisenhower Drive in Edinburgh, with the Rev. Lewis Burton officiating. Calling will be at the church from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh with military graveside rites conducted by Edinburgh American Legion. Memorials may be made to Whosover Will Community Church, 623 S. Eisenhower Drive, Edinburgh, IN 46124. Arrangements were made by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh. Born in Shelby County Nov. 7, 1948, Mr. Hancock was the son of James and Mabel Burton Hancock. He married Kathy Giles July 30, 1972. Survivors include his wife; sons, Rick (Krissy) Hancock and Shane (Anita) Hancock, both of Edinburgh; grandchildren, Callie Jo, Chloe and Ren Hancock and Dustin Kincaid; brothers, James “Snooter” (Juanita) Hancock of Edinburgh, Valley (Shirley) Hancock of Edinburgh, Joe Hancock of Columbus, Gene (Tammy) Hancock of Edinburgh and Steve Hancock of Edinburgh; and sisters, Donna Dinn and Karen (David) Harmon, both of Edinburgh. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Judy Hancock and Margie Allender.
