Paul E. Larsen M-A-44-8

Paul E. Larsen, 87, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at the Franklin United Methodist Community. He was a lifelong resident of Edinburgh. He was born Sept. 25, 1922, to the late Bertha (Collette) Larsen and Emil Larsen. Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II in the South Pacific on the destroyer USS Cowell. Along wife his wife, Wilma, he owned and operated Larsen's Appliance Store in Edinburgh for more than 50 years. Paul was a past commander of Edinburgh American Legion Post 233 and Edinburgh Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7964. He served two terms on the Edinburgh school board and was active on the Edinburgh Town Planning Board. He was a member of Edinburgh Masonic Lodge 100, Johnson County Shrine Club, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine. Survivors include a son, Wayne (Deb) Larsen of Elm Grove, Wis.; a daughter, Paula (Larry) Nightin-gale of Trafalgar; and three grandsons, Paul M. Larsen of New Or- leans, Evan R. Larsen of St. Louis and Joseph Kledzik of Greenwood. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma (Montgomery) Larsen; and two brothers, Nathan and Neil Larsen. The Rev. Darci Sieracke will conduct a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the mortuary. Burial with military rites will be conducted at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
