Peggy Tait, 76, of Columbus, died at 6:20 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Columbus Regional Hospital. A 1951 graduate of Columbus High School, she had worked as a cashier at K-Mart and Fran’s Liquors and was a former receptionist in the office of Dr. Richard Newton. She enjoyed her family, her pets and gardening. The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Columbus Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born in the Kansas area of Camp Atterbury in Bartholomew County, Jan. 26, 1934, Mrs. Tait was the daughter of Ransom and Bertha LeSueur Waltz. Survivors include a son, Wayne Tait of Columbus; a daughter, Debra (Francis) Knue of Edinburgh; granddaughters, Beth Knue of Indianapolis and Kelly (Scott) Whitlow of Monrovia; granddaughters, Claudia Whitlow and Mia Whitlow; a brother, Russell Waltz of Columbus; and a sister, Marilyn Welch of Sheridan. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Byron, James Leroy and Norman Waltz; and sisters, Miriam Long and Lila Burfeindt.
