Clifton "Cliff" Simpson, 66, of Edinburgh, died at 11:18 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. Mr. Simpson retired after owning and operating Cliff's Bar & Grill in Edinburgh for 25 years. He was a member of Edinburgh Masonic Lodge No. 100 and Sons of the American Legion in Edinburgh and enjoyed golfing, fishing and antique cars. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Whosoever Will Community Church, 623 S. Eisenhower Dr. in Edinburgh, with the Revs. Lewis Burton and Ralph Foster officiating. Calling will be at the church from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Arrangements were made by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh. Born in Columbia, Ky., June 10, 1943, Mr. Simpson was the son of Coy L. Simpson and Edith Burton Simpson. He married Corinne Foster May 27, 1961. Survivors include his mother, of Columbia, Ky.; his wife; a son, Tim (Robin) Burton of Shelbyville; a daughter, Marsha (Duane) Terry of Columbus; brothers, Osbert Simpson and Bob (Judy) Simpson, both of Edinburgh, and Luther Simpson of Columbus; sisters, Maydean (Don) Grant of Glasgow, Ky., and Phyllis (Tim) Wadsworth of Edinburgh; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Simpson of Edinburgh; and four grandchildren, Brittany Leigh Terry, Sarah Lynn Terry, Coy Robert Burton and Seth Daniel Burton. He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Clifton Lynn Simpson.
