Izena "Sweetmilk" Burton, 79, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was a resident of Edinburgh. She was born Aug. 12, 1930, in Columbia, Ky., to the late Leslie and Annie (Streeval) Burton. She married the late Raymond "Buttermilk" Burton on May 27, 1950. He passed Oct. 7, 2009. Survivors include her sons, Larry (Arcena) Burton, Ronnie (Cinda) Burton and Terry (Jeana) Burton, all of Franklin, Jerry (Rhoda) Burton of New Whiteland and Greg (Sherry) Burton of Edinburgh; a daughter, Debra (Joe) Chandler; four brothers, Albert (Lois) Burton of Albany, Ky., Edward "Bootie" (Darlene) Burton and Phillip Burton, both of Edinburgh, and Jack (Kathy) Burton of Bedford; two sisters, Mary Betty (Carl) Kimbler of Edinburgh and Martha (David) Bernard of Jamestown, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and caregiver and friend Josie Littlejohn. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Luther, Edgar and Kenneth Burton; a sister, Edith Bailey; and a great-granddaughter. She attended Who So Ever Will Community Church in Edinburgh. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, quilting, crocheting, fishing, attending church, going to yard sales and eating White Castle hamburgers. The Revs. Lewis Burton and Guy Hardin will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Who So Ever Will Community Church, 623 S. Eisenhower Drive, Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Additional calling will be from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
