Frances J. "Mammy" Johnson, 63, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at Hickory Creek in Franklin. She was a resident of Edinburgh. She was born May 26, 1945, in Russell Springs, Ky., to Orville Swanson Sr. and Loma Lois (Oakes) Swanson, who preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Laura (Don) Harding of Franklin; six brothers, Leroy Swanson of Greensburg, Darwin (Diann) Swanson of Edinburgh, Orville Swanson Jr. of Franklin, and Danny (Glenda), Blaine (Carol) and John (Donna) Swanson, all of Taylorsville; two sisters, Joyce (Elmer) Butler of Rineyville, Ky., and Sandra (Charley) Clawson of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Gustava June Clawson and Gladola Faye Swanson. She graduated from Russell County High School. She co-owned and operated the Curly Dog Drive-In in Edinburgh for 38 years. She was an avid sports fan, particularly Indiana University, the Cincinnati Reds and the Indianapolis Colts, and she loved spending time with her beloved poodle, Sophie Jo. The Rev. Guy Hardin will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Friday at Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church, 905 S. Main St. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
