Milo N. Coy Jr. M-F-24-3

Milo N. Coy Jr., 87, of Franklin, died at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Homeview Health Cen-ter in Franklin. He was born in Bartholomew County, August 7, 1924, the son of Milo N. Coy Sr., and Norma E. Stillabower Coy. He married Annabelle Graves October 23, 1949, and she survives. Milo graduated from Columbus High School in 1943 and attended Purdue University, majoring in agriculture. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Franklin. He was also a life member of DAV, VFW, the American Legion and Odd Fellows Lodge. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943, where he saw service in Europe with the 249th Engineer Combat Battalion and participated in battles at Utah Beach and the Battle of the Bulge. Wounded on the battlefield, he returned to the U.S. to recover and was discharged in 1945. After college, he worked for several lumber mills, purchasing trees used to manufacture veneer. He later worked in construction and began working for General Motors in 1965 at the truck plant in Indianapolis. Milo retired in 1987 and moved to Summerfield, Fla., until 2011, when he and Annabelle returned to Franklin. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, camping, fishing, and Jack, his beloved Chihuahua. Milo is survived by his wife; sons, Gary L. (Lynn) Coy of Do-ver, Del., Donald W. (Rebecca) Coy of Franklin, and Daniel R. (Jeanne) Coy of Burns Flat, Okla.; a daughter-in-law, Mary Kay Coy of Anderson, S.C.; eight grand-daughters, two grandsons and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael A. Coy and a sister, Alice Mae Williams. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home with Dr. Mark W. Hetrick officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery with graveside rites by the Franklin American Legion. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
