Edward J. "Junior" Ellis, 78, of Edinburgh, went to be with the Lord, with his family by his side, at 3:18 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at his home. Mr. Ellis retired from Golden Foundry where he was a lab technician. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he attended Ivy Tech College and was a member of Grace Tabernacle in Edinburgh where he had served as Sunday school superintendent. He enjoyed fishing, reading the Bible, playing the guitar, singing and reading Sunday devotions at church. Most of all, he loved being with his family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Tabernacle, 512 W. Center Cross, Edinburgh, with the Rev. Terry England and the Rev. Tom Collett officiating. Calling will be at the church from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh with military graveside rites conducted by Edinburgh American Legion Post No. 233. Memorial contributions may be made to Vista Care Hospice. Arrangements were made by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh. Born in Woodburn, Ky., Aug. 29, 1933, Mr. Ellis was the son of Charles Ellis and Patsy Costello Ellis. He married Betty J. Bryant Nov.23, 1956. She preceded him in death Dec. 16, 2003. Survivors include a daughter, Sandy (Terry) England of Edinburgh; grandchildren, Terry England Jr., Andy England, Mary England, Erica (Justin) Williams, Trae (Tabatha) England and Michael England; great-grandchildren, Ariel Rooks, Kameron, Marcus and Kylee England, and Summer, Isiaha and Aaron Williams; a brother, Tommy Ellis of Bowling Green, Ky.; and sisters, Mae (Halton) Sloan of Franklin, Ky., Jennie (James) Cowles of Franklin, Ky., and Margaret (Roy) Duncan of Woodburn, Ky.
