Edna P. Manion Hawkins, 94, of Columbus, died at 2:40 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at Silver Oaks Health Campus. A 1936 graduate of Edinburgh High School, Mrs. Hawkins was a former bookkeeper for C&H Garage and Acme Electric. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of the Elks Club. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street with Pastor Kirby Rupp officiating. Calling will be Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until service time. Mrs. Hawkins was born in Jackson County Feb. 19, 1918, the daughter of Dempsey B. "D.B." and Lottie McMahon Manion. She married Louis B. Hawkins Jan. 20, 1943, in Edinburgh. Survivors include a brother, John (Reba) Manion of Columbus; nieces and nephews, Linda (Paul) Covell of Rinnieville, Ky., Ellen (Robert) Salmons of Rutherfordton, N.C., Richard (Cindy) Manion of Sun City, Fla., Susan, Jim and David Zerwick and Ellen Van Fleet, all of Wisconsin; and a sister-in-law, Rose Zerwick of Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in March 1987; a son, Michael L. Hawkins on Dec. 13, 2006; a half sister, Ruth Dinn; and half brothers, Ray, Roy and Harry Manion. www.myers-reed.com
