George L. Hendricks, 91, of Taylorsville, died at 2:20 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Homeview Center of Franklin. George was born in Allen County, Kentucky, January 19, 1921, the son of the late Dudley J. and Nora B. Lawson Hendricks. He married Martha Louise Hamblen in 1946, and she survives. He is survived by a son, David (Patty) Hendricks of Southport; daughters, Carolyn Sue Sink of Edinburgh and Martha (Kenneth) Smith of Indianapolis; a sister, Edith Edmiston of Elizabethtown, Ky.; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Lee Hendricks; brothers, Herman, William, Willis and Johnnie Hendricks; and sisters, Mary Burkhart and Helen Silsby. George was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the former Edinburgh First Christian Church. He was also a 50-plus year member of Edinburgh Masonic Lodge #100, and was also a member of the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite. He retired in 1987 after 23 years with Methodist Hospital Construction Services. George enjoyed working in his wood shop and crafts. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh with the Rev. Lewis Burton officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A Masonic Service will be held at 8 p.m. Monday.
