Dorthine Holt, 85, of Edinburgh, died Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Heritage House Convalescent Center in Shelbyvile. She was born July 12, 1926, in Edmonton, Ky., to the late Riley and Ina (England) Harper. She married Lonza Holt on Nov. 17, 1942. He died March 28, 1990. Survivors include her children, Norman (Jan) Holt and Linda (Gary) Storie, both of Edinburgh; and two grandchildren, Lydia and Vincent Storie. She also was preceded in death by her siblings, Dewell, Freeman, Lowell and Herbert Harper and Patricia Bragg. She was a member of Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church and Citizens Action Committee in Edinburgh, which distributed toys for kids. She owned and operated Holt's Trailer Park in Edinburgh. She retired from Alma Plastics in Edinburgh. She was a former nurse's aid at Camp Atterbury hospital during World War II. She was very active in her church, helping with vacation Bible school and was a former Sunday school teacher. She formerly penned "Among Friends" for the Tri-County paper. She enjoyed gardening. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church, 1010 S. Main St., Edinburgh, with the Rev. Guy Hardin officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church, and from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of service at the church.
