Darroll Dwain Kelly, 72, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012, in Indianapolis. He was a resident of New Whiteland. Darroll was born June 15, 1939, in Shelbyville, to John Henry and Anna Louella (Cowen) Kelly. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving two tours in the Vietnam War as a staff sergeant with the tanks division. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He married Mary Jane Mann on June 15, 1968, in Greenwood. They were married for 43 years. Before retiring, Darroll was a truck driver for 18 years for OK Trucking and then was employed by C1 Truck Driving School as a CDL truck driving examiner. He enjoyed fishing and boating. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Kelly of New White­land; two daughters, Barbara Anne Robinson of Indianapolis and Kathryn Jane (Matt) Zerafa of Michigan; a sister, Frances Yarling of Shelbyville; a sister-in-law, Anne (Walter) Cottrell of Evansville; five grandchildren, Bryan and Michael Maloy, Nicholas and Stephanie Robinson and Joshua Zerafa; one great-grandson, Mylo Maloy; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Imogene and Caroline Kelley and Justine Losey; twin brother, Carroll W. Kelley; a half brother, Wayne Cowen; and a son-in-law, Dennis W. Robinson. The Rev. Stan Icenogle will conduct a funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. 31 North. Visitation for friends and family will be from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
