Douglas W. "Doug" Powers, 52, of Talley Road, died at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Doug was a 1978 graduate of Columbus North High School and was the owner of Powers Cement Service. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed riding dirt bikes, 4-wheeling, fishing and hunting. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastors Barb Tuttle and Mark Hurt officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Born in Shelbyville September 21, 1959, Doug was the son of Charles M. and Gail Ruth Painter Powers. Survivors include a sister, Lisa (J. Lynn) Thompson of Columbus; nephews, Dylan and Bradan Thompson, both of Columbus; and cousins, David Painter and Theresa (Don) Bowden, both of Brown County.
