Jerry Wayne Ramey, 71, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital in Beech Grove. He was a resident of Edinburgh. He was born Feb. 8, 1940, in Whiteland, to the late William and Mary (Coobert) Ramey. He married Marilyn (Titsworth) Ramey on Dec. 31, 1966; she preceded him in death March 7, 2006. Survivors include his children, Richard Dale and Michael C. Garrett, both of Edinburgh, Londa Land of North Vernon, Carla Jean (Jim) Groves of Anderson and Lisa Gail (Kirt) Jones of Morgantown; siblings, Elmer Ramey and Joe (Judy) Ramey, all of Nineveh, Johnny Ramey of Franklin, Sara (D.I.) Bills of Edinburgh and Emily (Jim) Wood of Whiteland; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, David, Bill and Harold Ramey; sisters, Betty Newman and Martha Hedger; and a grandson, Scott Poff. He served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964 and the Indiana National Guard from 1983 to 1993. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, the Murat Shrine in Indianapolis, Edinburgh Masonic Lodge 100, Order of the Eastern Star 439 in Franklin, the Edinburgh American Legion 233 and the Edinburgh VFW 7964. He owned and operated Ramey Marble and Tile in Columbus and was formerly employed by Chance Bros. Marble and Tile in Greenwood. He was retired as a supply sergeant for the Indiana National Guard. He also was a former emergency medical technician with Edinburgh Fire and Rescue. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, football and woodworking. The Rev. Richard Yeaton will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with a Masonic service at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military graveside rites will be conducted by Edinburgh Amer­ican Legion Post 233 at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
