Patricia Ann Thackery B-B-95-8

Patricia Ann Thackery, 85, of Westport died at 1:49 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2012 at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. She was born on July 28, 1926 in Johnson County. She was the daughter of Joe and Mary Margaret (Taylor) Wertz. She was raised in Bartholomew County and has been a Westport resident since 1975. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1944 and attended Indiana Business College at Columbus. She had worked for the Town of Westport in the Water and Sewer Office from 1982 until 2010. She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Bakers Dozen Home Ec. Club and Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary. She married Desmond D. Thackery on February 15, 1975 in Columbus and he preceded her in death on March 25, 1994. She is survived by her daughters, Jenniffer (Pat) Rafferty of Columbus, and Judith (Gary) Koors of Greensburg; her sons, John (Janet) Beck of South Bend and James (Brenda) Beck of Fillmore; her niece, Amy Lauer of Wabash; her 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home and Crematory with cremation to follow. Burial will take place at a later date at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral to the American Heart Association or to the donor's choice.
