Rev. Doug Wright, 53, of Edinburgh, died at 7:42 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Columbus Regional Hospital. Rev. Wright was the minister of the Edinburgh Church of the Nazarene for the past 20 years. He was the Behavioral Coach for the Edinburgh Community School system and the Edinburgh Police and Fire Chaplin. He was past-president of the Edinburgh Ministerial Association and an avid outdoorsman. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Edinburgh Church of the Nazarene with the Revs. Robert Muncie and Ron Blake officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church, 716, Eisenhower Drive, Edinburgh. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. He was born March 7, 1959 in Richmond, the son of Verl and Opal Schweizer Wright. He married Paula Nichols Sept. 3, 1977. Survivors include his wife, Paula Nichols Wright; his mother, Opal Schweizer Wright of Williamsburg; sons, Chris (Joy) Wright and Paul (Katie) Wright, both of Edinburgh, and Andy (Bethany) Wright of Greencastle; a brother, Dennis (Debbie) Wright of Fountain City; a sister, Diane Banta of Williamsburg, and three grandchildren, Morghan, Coleton and Raegan Wright. He was preceded in death by his father.
