Janet S. Wheeler, 86, of Columbus passed away at 1:15 A.M. on January 7, 2024, at I.U. Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Janetwas born August 7, 1937, in Edinburgh the daughter of Mont and Rosa Cook McGaha. Janetwas a member of the American Legion Auxillary Post 233 assisting with many special events. She enjoyed bowling, playing volleyball, Nascar and was a huge Tony Stewart fan. However, the love of her life was her two grandsons. As they grew older Janet and her husband followed their sporting events and extracurricular activities, whether local or out of state. Then the great grandkids started arriving and new adventures began again. Survivors include her daughter, Debbie (Dan) Londeree; grandson, Corey (Samantha) Londeree; 5 great grandchildren, Rylan Londeree, Asher Londeree, Laney Londeree, Landree Londeree and Breez Londeree; sisters, Sharon (Frank D.) McGaha Tull and Phyllis Blythe; and several nieces and nephews. Janetwas preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell Wheeler on May 11, 2000; brothers, Elby, Kenneth, and Larry McGaha; and her grandson, Jeremy Londeree – January 2024. In keeping with Mrs. Wheeler’s wishes cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Larry Tingle officiating. A livestream of the funeral service may be viewed at 12:00 P.M. Tuesday at barkesweaverglick.com. Family and friends may gather for visitation from10:00 A.M. till time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. In memory of Mrs. Wheeler memorial contributions may be given through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
