J.B. Freeman B-M-163-4
J.B. Freeman, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2024, at the age of 92 in Columbus, Indiana. J. B. was born on June 8, 1931, in Lafayette, Tennessee, and spent his life working hard to provide for his family. J. B. dedicated 29 years of his life to St. Bartholomew, where he worked in maintenance, caring for the church and school he loved. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his love for his family. He was a devoted husband to Jeanette Higdon Freeman, and together they built a life filled with a love that gave them 65 years together. A man of many hobbies, J. B. had a passion for gardening. He was light on his feet, often found square dancing and line dancing, and mastered the art of clogging, bringing smiles to the faces of everyone who watched him dance. He and his wife were both instructors in this art. His love for fishing, camping, and boating showed his appreciation for the great outdoors, and his adventurous spirit was evident in his extensive travels with Jeanette. The couple explored nearly every corner of the United States, with the exception of a few states, creating a tapestry of memories in places like Florida and Texas. In his retirement, J. B. found great pleasure in woodworking, a craft that allowed him to express his creativity and meticulous attention to detail. The pieces he created were not only beautiful but also a testament to his patience and skill. J. B. Freeman's legacy is one of love, friendship, and kindness. He navigated life's journey with a gentle heart and an open hand, always ready to help and to give. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette, and children, Rita Kay (Rick) Zirgibel, of San Antonio, TX, Karen Lynn Johnson, of Columbus, IN, Deborah Ann (Mike) Beal of Needham, IN, and Wayne (Rhonda) Freeman, of Columbus. Grandchildren, Leslie Hardwick, Ashley Likely, Ryan Caudill, Tyreese Johnson, Casey Taylor, Cody Freeman, Brittany Burns, Shelby Sandberg, Dustin Crouch, and Heather Sacksteder, and 21 great-grandchildren.
