Mark Ignacy Burton, 59, of Columbus, passed away September 27, 2024. He was born on November 3, 1964, in Columbus, IN, to Norman Burton and Vera Zieleniuk Burton. Mark retired from Osco and was a passionate numismatist, a hobby that allowed him to connect with history through the collection of coins. His love for the past was also evident in his enjoyment of hunting for arrowheads, an activity that spoke to his appreciation for the narratives etched in time. Moreover, he found tranquility in the simple pleasure of mushroom foraging, an interest that brought him closer to nature's subtle wonders. Mark's love for his furry companions, Burek and Sable, was unmistakable. He could often be found walking his beloved dogs, an activity that not only spoke to his caring nature but also to his love for the outdoors. Those walks were moments of reflection and companionship that Mark treasured deeply. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Stacey Tucker officiating. Calling hours will be from 12 p.m. Wednesday until service time at 1 p.m. Burial will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Survivors include his mother and step-father, Vera and Kennith Merideth of Columbus, IN; step-sisters, Sondra (Leonard) Bennett and Cheryl Mitchell both of Shelby County, IN; Mark is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.
