Gordon G. Barker, 82 of Edinburgh, Indiana passed away May 2, 2025, at Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana, In-Patient Facility in Columbus, Indiana. He was born March 20, 1943, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the son of Stanley E. and Ada (Ward) Barker. He married LuAnn (Hill) Barker on July 20, 1968, and she survives. He is also survived by his children, James G. (Julie) Barker of Franklin, Indiana, Beth A. (Matt) Litchfield of Paris Crossing, Indiana, and Melanie G. (Nate) Nichols of Columbus, Indiana, grandchildren, Evan, Gabrielle, Noah, Daniel, Lacey, and Gavin, great-grandchild, Dominic, and brother, Terry E. Barker of Columbus, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gordon served in the Army Reserves for 6 years. He retired from IAC in 2008 after 45 years. After retiring he worked at Fletcher Chrysler for 2 years and Real-World Testing for 14 years. He served as a special deputy in Edinburgh for 34 years and a reserve deputy for Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department for 10 years. He served on the Edinburgh Town Board for 4 years and the German Township Volunteer Fire Department Board for 9 years. He was a member of the Community Church of Columbus and Johnson County FOP Lodge #154. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved serving the community and people. A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Adam Smith at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 7 and from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
