Valley Houston Hancock, Jr. “Bub”, 62 of Edinburgh, Indiana passed away May 3, 2025, at his residence. He was born on July 20, 1962, in Columbus, Indiana. He was the son of Valley H. and Shirley A. (Cochran) Hancock. He is survived by his children, Clint (Emilie Veillette) VanVolkenburgh of Aurora, Indiana, Kyndra (Jake) Biehle of North Vernon, Indiana, and Thomas (Krystal Wilson) Hancock of North Vernon. Indiana, grandchildren, Waylon, Ava Grace, and Owen, sisters, Marla Giles of Indianapolis, Indiana and Tamera (Ron) Mayes of Greenwood, Indiana, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Johnny Hancock, and sister, Janice Curry. He graduated from Edinburgh High School in 1980. Valley was known to be a jack of all trades. In his early 20’s, he spent time painting cars, trucks, and horse trailers. Like his late father, he also got into the business of selling lumber. In 1992, Valley began buying and selling recycled automotive parts and built a successful business that he would continue for the next 33 years. This business is where he found his love for traveling, the beach, and making many friends along the way. Prior to his passing, Valley had recently ventured back into the painting business with his oldest son, Clint. Valley was happiest when surrounded by friends and family. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. Valley spent the majority of his time in South Florida over the last 30 years. He loved his home in Pompano Beach and always had an open door for visitors. Valley was always eager to give his guests the full South Florida experience to share his love and appreciation for the area. He enjoyed day trips to the beach, an excellent steak dinner, and venturing off to the nearest casino. Valley was a man with a big heart and was known for his infectious personality. He had the remarkable ability to light up a room with his witty sense of humor, playful banter, and would always be seen smiling from ear to ear. Valley was someone who never knew a stranger and wouldn’t hesitate to strike up a conversation or offer the shirt off his back to someone in need. Valley will be deeply missed by those who knew him. His legacy will live on through stories and memories shared by those who loved him, and through his wonderful children and grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted by Eulogist Robert Cochran at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday, May 12 and from 10:00 AM until time of service on Tuesday. The burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
