Gary R. Weekley, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on August 6, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Gary was born to Larry Weekley and Jean Hawkins Weekley on September 4, 1962, in Columbus, Indiana. Gary is survived by his wife, Angela L. King Weekley; children, Joshua (Kaylee) Weekley, Dustan Weekley, Jessica (Michael Rusianchak) Weekley, Jamie Smith, Joshua (Samantha) Shows and Benjamin (Ashley) Shows; grandchildren, Aiden, Wi low, Summer, Wyatt and Jude; his beloved Boston Terrier, Bindi and many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Gary is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Troy Weekley. An avid sports enthusiast, Gary's competitive spirit shone through whether he was engrossed in a television broadcast or participating in a game. His passion for golf and softball was matched by his love for fishing, a time he would enjoy by himself or share with anyone in his family teaching life lessons or sharing stories along the way. A gifted dance instructor, Gary brought joy and the rhythm of life to many through teaching line and square dancing. Always one to embrace community, he was not only baptized at but also an active member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Greenwood. However, it was perhaps at dog shows where Gary's enthusiasm and spirit were most apparent. He loved going to these events and was an integral part of the dog show community, sharing a bond with each handler and participant that went beyond mere competition. Above a l, Gary will be remembered for the profound love he had for his family. Time spent with his children and grandchildren was his greatest joy, moments where laughter and love were abundant. His legacy is one of joy, perseverance in the face of life’s challenges, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street, with Pastor Jack Heaston officiating. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Gary will be laid to rest at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, Indiana.
