Jesse L Estes Badger-C-23-1
Jesse L. Estes, 76, of Franklin, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Friday, September 5, 2025, at the Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was born on April 23, 1949, in Lexington, Kentucky, a son of the late William Ines and Lillian Maxine (Clemmons) Estes. Jesse willingly served his country, greatly served his family, and proudly served his God. He voluntarily enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, where he served as an aircraft mechanic. Jesse loved to tell people that he “served in the Navy and never stepped foot on a boat.” Jesse married the love of his life, Sheila Glover, on October 17, 1987. They were members of the Franklin Wesleyan Church, where he served on the board and as a Sunday School Teacher. Jesse’s pastor said he had the spiritual gift of “Helps” as he was always serving others and making people feel welcome. Jesse joyfully served his Lord and Savior for 51 years until meeting Him face to face in his eternal home on Friday. For 30 years, Jesse worked at Arvin Industries in Franklin and Columbus, building exhaust systems. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and walking in his neighborhood. His pride and joy were his three boys and his five grandchildren. Those left to cherish Jesse’s memory include his loving wife, Sheila Estes; his three sons, Tyler (Jeannette) Estes of Bloomington, Chris (Olivia) Estes of Fishers, and Jon Estes of Franklin; five grandchildren, Levi, Gabriel, Titus, Winston, and Selah “Little Blue Eyes” as he lovingly called her; two sisters, Brenda (Gary) Raney and Phyllis Winchester both of Lancaster, KY, along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jesse Jim Estes. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the Franklin Pilgrim Holiness Church, 1000 Hospital Road, Franklin, IN, with Pastor Don Neal officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh with Military Burial Honors provided by contingents from the US Navy and VFW. Friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Sproles Family Funeral Home in New Castle.
