Michael Eugene Engelking, 78, of Gurley, Alabama, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025. Born in Seymour, Indiana, the oldest of eight children, he graduated in 1965 from North Vernon High School. He received bachelor’s degrees from Purdue University, Baptist College of Charleston, and North Carolina Wesleyan University. He married Brenda Branstetter in 1966. Mike was employed with Cummins Engine Company for 37 years. In 1977, he moved to Charleston, South Carolina, with Cummins, and in 1985, transferred to Rocky Mount, North Carolina, where he retired in 2002. Fo lowing retirement, he moved to Huntsville to do consulting work. A devout Christian for over 70 years, Mike loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ above a l. He was an active member of Willowbrook Church where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed playing golf with friends and family. He especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boating with his sons and grandsons. He loved Alabama football and basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowe l and Florence Engelking. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Brenda Branstetter Engelking; sons, Tim Engelking (Jennifer), Kevin Engelking, and Tony Engelking (Jennifer); grandchildren, Dillon (Stacy), Emily, Thomas (Logan), Payton (Geneviève), and Brady; siblings, Mary Easter (Dave), Linda Elkins (Skip), Davied Engelking, Steve Engelking, Connie Satterwhite (Gary) Rebecca Powe l, and Ke ly Engelking; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many special friends in the Lighthouse Group at Willowbrook Church. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh; Brian Gilroy, Pastor of Garden City Christian Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Mike may be made to the Garden City Christian Church, 3245 Jonesville Road, Columbus, Indiana 47201 or cards are available at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home.
