Randy Glen Carter 1957-2026Randy Glen Carter, 68, of Stinesville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, at Indiana University Hospice House. Born on July 8, 1957, to David and Bonnie (Lawrence) Carter, Randy spent his entire life in the community he loved. His life was defined by quiet strength, steady devotion, and a deep, unwavering love for his family and the people around him. He worked for nearly 3 decades at Indiana University, retiring in 2016.Randy was proceeded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marilyn (Burton) Carter, who was the center of his world and a constant companion. Their life together was built on love, partnership, and a shared commitment to family. Randy was a devoted father who took immense pride in his four children: Richie Carter, Roger (Corie) Carter, Rachel (Eric) Newton, and Ranessa (Sean) Brown. Becoming “Grandpa” and “Great grandpa” was one of his greatest joys. He adored his grandchildren—Katrina and Matt Cavanah, Abigail Dresnek, Emma Richardson, Tyler Newton, MaKenna Brown, Whyatt Carter, Brantlei Brown, and Lila Newton, each one held a special place in his heart. Randy’s love for sports was one of the things that brought him the most excitement. Whether it was football, basketball, racing, or his weekly ritual of watching Survivor, he enjoyed every moment. But nothing compared to cheering on Indiana University Football. He was a loyal fan through every season, and when IU finally won a National Championship, it felt like a dream he had waited his whole life to see come true. More than anything, Randy will be remembered for his kindness. He had a gentle way about him calm presence that made people feel safe, heard, and cared for. He listened without judgment, helped without hesitation, and showed love in the quiet, consistent ways that matter most. Those who knew him will carry forward the memory of his steady spirit and the warmth he brought into every room. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
