CARTHAGE -- Patricia Anderson, 406 State Highway 3, Pitcairn, died Wednesday evening at the Carthage Area Hospital, where she had been a patient for a short time.
Born in London, England on January 23, 1943 to Rose Brown, she came to America on the Queen Elizabeth as a young girl in 1949. She graduated from Connorsville High School in Indiana and received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Indiana University. Later, she received her Master's in Education from Potsdam College. She married Jerold Anderson on January 21, 1963 in Columbus, Indiana. She taught school in various locations as she traveled with her husband, who was in the Military. She also taught Financial Awareness to incoming soldiers at Fort Drum for some time.
She was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Post #7227, Carthage, a member of the Harrisville Grange, #530, a member of the Red Hat Society, a Past President of the Carthage Music Club and a volunteer at both the Harrisville and Carthage Libraries. She is survived by her husband, Jerold, at home and her daughters, Cynthia Quillen, West Point, Indiana and Teresa Cheatham, Crestwood, Kentucky. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Scott & Kyle Quillen and Michelle, Steven & Joshua Perry, her step grandchildren, Rebacca & Jacob Cheatham and her great grandchildren, Nicholas & Zachary Perry. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 4th at 11:00 AM at the Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage, with the Rev. Ed Murphy, Pastor, officiating.
