Jonathan Dewayne "John Boy" Ayers M-H-42-4

Jonathan Dewayne "John Boy" Ayers, 38, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at Methodist Hos­pital in Ind­iana­polis. He was a resident of Edin­burgh. He was born June 1, 1973, to Billy Ayers of Rose Hill, Va., and Doris (Ford) Jefferies of Edinburgh. They survive. Other survivors include his stepfather, Don Jefferies; grandmother, Betty Sears of Edinburgh; brothers, Jay (Charity) and Rodney (Stacey) Ayers, both of Edinburgh; sisters, Marsha Ayers and Audrey Ayers, both of Edinburgh. He was uncle to David Rooks, Codie and Brookley Ayers and Nicholas and Deanne Neville, all of Edinburgh. He also is survived by aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Robert and Ebby Carter, Sara Ayers and Carroll "Hank" Sears. He was a graduate of Edinburgh Community High School, class of 1992. He attended Wesleyan Church in Edinburgh and was employed at the Circle K in Edinburgh. John Boy devoted his life to family and friends. He enjoyed mowing yards, watching "Dukes of Hazzard," and "Bonanza." He also was a huge Nascar fan and never missed a race. He loved it when his driver crossed the finish line. John Boy had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone who asked. He enjoyed hot wing night at the Tasty Shop with his friends and riding his red scooter with a big smile. The Revs. Larry Riddle and Lewis Burton will conduct a funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Who So Ever Will Community Church, 623 S. Eisenhower Drive, Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. to service time Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh is handling arrangements.
