James M. Breeding B-J-112-5

James Martin Breeding, age 90 of Hanover, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at the King's Daughters' Hospital. He was born September 10, 1920 in Edinburgh, Indiana, the son of Benjamin George and Charlotte Evelyn (Mutz) Breeding, who preceded him in death.  He married Rosenell Arita Todd on January 26, 1941, whom he met while attending Hanover College. He was a graduate of Edinburgh High School.
Jim was owner-operator of Breeding Hardware & Appliance, in Edinburgh, until 1960. He was employed by, Peerless Heating & Air Conditioning in Indianapolis, Indiana for four years. Then he worked at Amos Thompson Veneer, in Edinburgh as The Veneer Superintendent. In 1973, Jim moved his family to Hanover Beach, Indiana and was employed by IOSHA for four years. Then he was employed by, Conn Organ and Cummins Engine plant in Madison, as foremen of Building and Grounds. He also worked four years as maintenance foreman for First Assembly of God Church in Madison where he was also a member.  He was on the Edinburgh Fire Department for thirty years, twelve years as Fire Chief of the Department. He was also President of the Johnson County Fireman's Association and was a member of the Edinburgh Masonic Lodge for over fifty years. He was President of the Edinburgh High School Alumni Association, Past Commander and lifetime member of Post #233 of the American Legion in Edinburgh. He was an Aviation Mechanic's Mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He enjoyed boating on the Ohio River and working on projects around his home at Hanover Beach.  He is survived by his wife, Rosenell Arita (Todd) Breeding; three daughters, Joyce Breeding Park and her husband, Larry of Madison, Annette Walker and her husband, Mike of Flat Rock, IN and Cindy Huntington of Madison; one son, James Todd Breeding and his wife, Carolyn of Chesapeake, VA; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
