Mabel E. Burkhart, 95, of Edinburgh, died at 7:20 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2011, at Franklin United Methodist Community. She was born in Bartholomew County March 19, 1915, the daughter of Fred and Mamie Evans Roberts. She is survived by daughters, Linda (Charles) Breeding of Franklin and Marcella (John) Terry of Columbus; a sister, Mary Grindstaff of Edinburgh; grandchildren, David Bevis of Columbus, Debra McCormick of Edinburgh, Sherri Foster of Indianapolis, Jerold Burkhart of Texas, James Burkhart of Calif., Brian Terry of Shoals, Barry Terry of Campbellsburg and Beth Blondell of Mitchell; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Francis Russell Burkhart; a brother, Leroy Roberts; and sisters, Edna Ford, Emma Ford and Florence Mudd. She was a member of Columbus Baptist Church. She retired from Alma Plastics in 1980 after 20 years of service. She enjoyed her family, particularly her grandchildren, bingo and jigsaw puzzles. She was a NASCAR fan, especially Tony Stewart and an IU basketball fan. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Kennedy officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
