Betty Jean Cox, 88, of Edinburgh, died at 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. Mrs. Cox retired in 1988 after 17 years of service with the David R. Webb Co. in Edinburgh. She enjoyed spending time with her family and talking to friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh with the Rev. Lewis Burton officiating. Calling will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Memorial contributions may be made to Glaucoma Research & Education Foundation, in care of Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh, IN 46124. Born in Brown County Sept. 27, 1923, Mrs. Cox was the daughter of George Edward Lefever and Mattie Florence Cordray Lefever. She married James T. Cox July 26, 1947. He preceded her in death March 5, 1973. Survivors include a son, James A. (Brenda) Cox of Edinburgh; a daughter, Peggy Jean Denner of Pendleton; a stepdaughter, Mary Jane (Richard) Neville of Edinburgh; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, George Lefever; and sisters, Edith Varanelli, Bonnie Bandy and Freda Reed.
