Edwin T. Dippel, 88, of Knoxville, Tenn., died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at Heritage Assisted Living in Knoxville. Mr. Dippel owned Ed's Grocery in Edinburgh in 1957 and also formerly worked as a store clerk for Village Pantry. He was a 1941 graduate of Mount Auburn High School and a member of Hall's Christian Church in Knoxville, Tenn., and Edinburgh Masonic Lodge No. 100 F&AM. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh with the Rev. Lewis Burton officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh. Born in Shelby County March 28, 1922, Mr. Dippel was the son of George E. and Mary Arbuckle Dippel. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Sue (Raymond) Driggers of Knoxville, Tenn.; and a nephew, Larry (Tina) Dippel of California. He was preceded in death by a son, David Dippel; and a brother, George Dippel.
